Any other Associate Degrees online besides Pierpont?

Hey everyone,

I am helping my brother put together a degree plan, he wants something in IT or just a basic degree to check a box. I am working on building him a spreadsheet for Pierpont but was wondering if there are any other AA degrees we could look at?

The reason we are starting with an AA is to get a small win, my brother has a very stressful life, financial constraints and a slew of health issues so this is the best place to start.

There's plenty, the problem is most of them are just as/almost as expensive as a bachelors. Just do Pierpont unless you really really want to pay money for an associates and want to leverage up to a bachelors from the same school (TESU for example).

Unless he already has quite a bit of credit at one particular community college I don't see how he will get a cheaper or faster associate degree than the one from Pierpont.

I guess where to start. I think these would be good questions to answer:

1) Do he have any prior actual college credit?
2) Does he have anything that could be counted as college credit? (AP, CLEP, ACE, NCCRS, certifications, etc.)
3) Does he have access to an affordable local CC that accepts alternative forms of credit?
4) Does he qualify for financial aid like Pell grants, scholarships, etc?

This is what I suggest your brother do as well, a Pierpont BOG AAS with an emphasis and then ladder up to the UMPI BAS or BLS with a different concentration.

Is the BOG AAS legit? Has anyone had any issues when presenting it to an employer? Can the BOG AAS be used to move on to a BA down the line?

I'm a few classes away from an A.S. in Business Admin with TESU. I don't have any intent right now to keep going for a BA, but that may change in the future. I'm mostly needing the associates for work. I have almost 20 years experience in my field of work but no actual degree. At this point in my life I'm not sure the ROI in time/money is worth it to keep going for the BA.

Yes, it's legit. It's from a community college in West Virginia. Several forum members have gone onto their bachelor's degree after completing the Pierpont AAS.
