DMiracleGuy Wrote:Thanks DCan! I have read (some of) the wikis, but get a bit side tracked as I go through them bouncing from one hyper link to another. I appreciate the info. At this point I am not plannng on getting a degree from one of the big 3, but the info about having ALEKS post credit to my ACE transcript and then submitting my ACE send info to my college of choice for review is very helpful. If that doesnt' work (aka, they won't approve it) I may use the big 3 as fall back.
Thanks again.
NO they almost certainly will not accept it. The Big 3 are called that because they are the three schools with liberal transfer policies. In fact I'm not aware of
any other school that accepts ALEKS other than them, but I could be mistaken. I do know some schools use them for
placement evaluations, but I don't know of any other school that takes them as credit.
Just because ACE recommends credit
DOES NOT mean a school will actually take the credit. Not sure if you read that page on the wiki yet, but it is an important part of the process to understand.
One avenue of course would be to use ALEKS to learn and practice the material, then take the corresponding CLEP/DSST test. Just be sure your school will take the test. Most schools have limits on the number of credits they take via test, and some strictly limit which tests they accept at all.
Note I'm not trying to persuade you to flip to one of these schools. While I think they offer a great service it's not for everyone. I just don't want you to waste time and money if it will ultimately not work for the school and degree path you have chosen.
