Apparently what everyone here has been saying is true. I just got back from taking this CLEP exam. I absolutely loathe reading literature!! But, to my surprise, I passed with a 63 (A)! 6 credits in the bank! There was no way for me to prepare for this exam. I'm not military so the Peterson's site was inaccessible. I just went in hoping that what I understood of the English language was enough and it appears to be. Glad to have it over with, though.

Congrats!
How did you figure 63 is an A? Just curious...

There was a conversion chart inside CLEP study guide explaining that the scaled score of 60 with a raw score beginning at 65 and anything higher falls into the A category. The scaled score is the score that we receive and my scaled score is 63.

A scaled score of 63 means that you answered about 48/70 questions correctly, and yes, CLEP does show that this scaled score would equate to a course grade of "A"

Congratualtions!! I'm presently studying for CLEP's American Lit, but am thinking of following it up with A & I. Analyzing is my super-duper weak spot, so I am terrified of that portion of the Am Lit CLEP, not to mention the thought of taking an entire "analysis" test - YIKES!
I'm curious as to why you can't access the Peterson's tests. I'm not in the military and have been using the Peterson's tests for all three CLEP tests I've taken so far. It's $20 for 80 days of access to any particular test. I sign up, take the tests, print a hard-copy to study from, and retake the tests (I cover up the answers on my monitor with a credit card,) as many times as necessary until I'm comfortable I "get" the material. Well worth the money.

Beats me! Everytime I tried to access the study portion, I got this pop-up asking for a 'department of defense ID (DoD)' number. Oh well, I don't need them now since I'm done with every possible exam that I needed except Statistics, which in a few days, I will be done with it through straighterline.

ok - I am taking my first ever CLEP and have chosen A&I- I am only 9 credits from completion at TESC and have earned them all the hard way - don't ask me why. Any advice? I have been reading the comments as well!

need more info -- what subject do you need the last 3 credits?
If humanities CLEP A&I Lit LIT 291/292 (6) and DSST Technical Writing ENG-201 (3) are both easily doable the same day. You would probably sail through both with little to no study. Good luck and congrats for being so close to completion!
