Advisor Assigned & Minor Questions

Hi Everyone,

I got my advisor assigned for my September 3 start and she's switching my program to BAS now (even before my august 2nd AAS conferral). I guess that's a nice time saver. Also, I asked what the minor options were under the BAS program and she gave me the following: Accounting, Criminal Just, Educ Studies, History, Mgmt, MIS, Poli Sci, Project Management, and Psych. In this link, there are a bunch more options for minors so I'm wondering if I'm only limited to these ones she gave me or if I could actually get any those minors. I'm considering the Mgmt minot, but I was also considering a Bussiness Admin minor so maybe I can double minor? I transferred a lot of Business ACE credits so I wonder if I can.

I sent her these questions and haven't heard back yet, but wanted to see what you all thought. By the way, since she reached out, she's been great. She gets back to me right away, even on weekends.

The link you provided is the UMPI catalog which pertains to on campus students. yourPace has limitations in what courses are offered. Your academic success coach gave you the minors that are fully available in YourPace. You can complete on campus minors, but you'll have to transfer the courses in from elsewhere and this isn't easily possible for many of the minors.

Management and Business Administration are 2 different minors with different course requirements. You can have up to 3 minors. THere's needs to be a difference of at least 9 credits between each minor.

Exactly that, I'm doing the same triple minor as ss20ts did for her first degree at UMPI.  Any minor can be completed, the main thing is, you need to transfer in credits that are not on the YourPace platform.  I mentioned how to go ahead with minors at UMPI in this thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...or-Inquiry

So I got my answer on having a double minor of mgmt and bus. admin. I'm able to do it. I have 15 credits to complete between the two minors. They're all 200,300,400 level courses (except for Intro to Business Computing which is BUS125), so I'm guessing I didn't satisfy any of those with Sophia courses that I transferred in.

I also need to complete 4 300/400 courses, but I'm not sure which courses I can choose. I need to get the list of available 300/400 courses that don't have prerequisites I haven't satisfied. I'm sure I'll see those at some point.  I also need to complete ENG121, which I saw on this forum many times was better left for UMPI than Sophia. That totals 30 residency credits.

I got the course list and for now have settled on POS343 Marxism, POS335 Modern Politial Thought, POS332 Constitutional Law, and POS301 European Governments and the EU.

I kind of wasn't aware of that. I haven't paid too much attention to MAOL threads. Hmm... I'll look it up. Thx.

If you have no plans to stay with UMPI for a master degree there is no reason to take the MAOL courses that can be waived. Make sure you focus on getting one Minor complete before focusing on another. That way if you don't have to worry about finishing the 2nd if you should run short on time. You only need one minor (and any remaining courses to hit the 10 course residency requirement)
