Any reviews on Adams State distance learning. I am coming up 1 credit short for graduation and needed a project management/systems analysis type course.
I registered for their Systems Analysis course earlier this week (Tue/Wed). I just called for an update and they said it could be up to 2 weeks before I even get an email with my course information.
I am hoping to be done with course by the time I finish my capstone at Excelsior next month. Any reviews would be helpful, please include information about tests, grading, and transcript times if applicable please. Thanks!

It seems that most people dont have any info on Adams State. I looked into their Bachelors degree program, but I really couldnt find any information. Hopefully, when you are finished with the course, you can provide some insight and also hopefully someone will respond before then.

My son took that course about a year ago. Sorry I can't give you much more than....the professor was flexible and accommodating, exams were not proctored, course material was pretty basic, he ended with an A.
I would email the prof explaining you are on a bit of a time crunch and would like to move through the material at a rapid pace.

I just finished Managerial Finance from Adams State College last week. It was a distance learning course. They say you can finish the courses in as little as six weeks, but if you get the book before the course you can get to about four weeks (takes three weeks for proctored exam to arrive). I really enjoyed the course and ended with a B for the whole course. I had two midterms and a final comprehensive exam for the course, all proctored. The last two exams I took a day apart. Probably would have gotten an easy A if I studied an extra day. One great thing is that you can email the instructor with questions, and they usually get back pretty quickly. So its not like you're studying all by yourself. Disclaimer: These courses are for those who are self motivated, disciplined, and self teachers. While the instructor is there to help, is will REALLY slow you down if you have to keep asking questions on every little thing.
All in all, I loved the course and learned a lot from it (besides getting 3 credits :roflol: ).

I can't say anything about the classes, but I will say that I am here in Colorado and Adams does not have a bad reputaion. LOL... it's not well known either, but always good to know that people here don't think poorly of it. It's in Alamosa, CO, which is a small town in southern CO in case you were interested....

I was allotted one year to take the course, and given a booklet with all the writing prompts. Two written exams, once of which I didn't have to take because I lengthened one of my papers (2-4 page to 8-10 page).
Teacher was amiable and provided good feedback, though no detailed critique of the papers.
Overall, a good experience.

LOL.. Even being in Colorado, I had to look Alamosa up on the map. I'm sure I've probably driven through a time or two and didn't realize. I believe that Adams State is where the folks in Southern CO go to school if they don't want to move for college.

Excellent source of credit at a low cost.
I like the open enrollment. How easy was it to get started?
Are the courses mostly assignment based with no proctors?

Just completed the course. It involved more work per assignment than most online school/online courses. But I guess that's to be expected of b/m school. On the other hand there were only 11 assignments with about 4 involved questions each.
If you get the book, the homework consists of the "To Do Lists" in the SCR scenarios. You can also Google the book and see most of it for free to get an idea of what it's like. I highly recommend trying a chapter or two before committing to the course. The book was only $5 so I ordered it well before I took the course.
There are 11 chapters, each with a quiz and homework assignment then a midterm and final. The quizzes are all standard from the book multiple choice about 20 per chapter. And the mid-term and final are cumulative from the quizzes. The great news is the midterm and final study guides contain all the questions for the quizzes and tests so studying is straight forward.
The work is in the homework. But it's doable.
As for Adams, I would have thought that they'd be more automated but after submitting the registration online, it went manual for about a week waiting to hear back from them with course logon information. From there it was smooth sailing taking the course. The prof was easy to communicate with and very responsive, even though I was in a hurry and openly more concerned about getting a transferable grade than about learning.
I'm now waiting yet again for the manual process. The prof has to compute your grade, then email you your final grade as the system doesn't automatically do this as your doing assignments. Then the prof has to submit the grade to the school which will be another 5-7 business days, then I can order a transcript through National Clearing House which will be another 7-10 business via regular mail.
So overall, if you're not in a hurry and the money is in your budget, Adams is a great choice to consider.
