Academic fresh start or no?
#21
WGU does accept up to 90 credits in transfer, yes. But, due to the way the credits are laid out, I'm not sure that you currently have that many to transfer in. At least one of your Anatomy & Physiology classes will go to waste, I think. You have Philosophy, Psychology, and Personal Finance. I think that Philosophy or Psychology may work as Humanities and the rest don't fit anywhere. It's possible that Philosophy will work for Critical Thinking & Analysis? Maybe? Check this degree plan for WGU's IT degree. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/WG...egree_Plan I'm not sure that more than 3 or 4 of your classes will transfer, though I could be wrong about that. Granted, it's possible that WGU would still be the fastest/cheapest/easiest to get through for you once you take everything into consideration.

The free Associate's is from Pierpont, not Peirce. They both start with P, so it's easy to get them confused!

English Comp II at Sophia is a bear to get through. The grading is terrible and just takes way too long. It's also got way too many assignments when compared to other options that are available. 7 written assignments vs. 1-3 assignments elsewhere.

If you're most interested in WGU, I would apply to them and see how the credits come in, you can transfer up to 90, but I would guess from all the providers added as options using their partners.wgu.edu website, using primarily the providers we recommend, you'll be very close to that number... you can then finish the degree at WGU in 1 term if you do not have many commitments.

Thank you again everyone. I had my transcript evaluated at WGU and as mentioned, not many credits transfer in. If anyone is interested, I can grab the specifics and type them out. I’ll need two or three classes (ethics in technology, critical thinking, technical communications) that Sophia doesn’t offer.

Have you decided for sure on WGU, then? If you aren't already aware, WGU doesn't allow you to transfer in more credits once you start classes. You can delay your start to bring in more from SDC if desired, though.

Honestly, if there’s a better choice out there, I’m open to it. Price isn’ta huge factor as I’m willing to pay what I need to pay to get this over with lol. And yeah, I haven’t given them a start date just yet.

WGU is definitely a good option. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of transfer limitations because they are somewhat unique in that regard. Some people don't realize it's a thing until it's too late.

Interesting... Do other institutions accept transfer credits after starting? I assumed that once you started somewhere, you were locked in. That's how it was at the typical community college and universities I've been around the most.

While I'm thinking of it, do you have a recommendation for the best place to take technical communications and maybe some of the other things that Sophia doesn't offer? Specifically, non-proctored do it when you want to type course?

I think a lot of them do, yes. You may have to get permission, such as at UMPI, but you can still transfer credits in. We sometimes get students who are attending an atypical school (not one of the Big3, UMPI, or WGU) who are looking for a cheap/fast way to meet credit requirements to get the degree they started years ago. The Big3 all allow you to transfer in credit without permission at all.

Sophia is the only non-camera proctored option. Study.com has a non-live proctor. A lot of students find that easier to deal with than a live proctor with an actual person watching you on the other end. Since there is no person at the other end, there is no scheduling either. You can take the exam whenever you want. If you finish the course at midnight and want to take the exam IMMEDIATELY, you can do so.

Technical Writing on Saylor doesn't have a credit recommendation, but it's supposed to be aligned with the TECEP.
