Study.com Psych. Classes
#1
I need to take a psych. class that will count for UL credit at TESU and I am looking at the three choices that study.com has, abnormal psy, social psy, and research in psy. Anyone have experience with these courses? I am leaning towards the social psy because there might be some overlap from my 2 sociology courses I also have 2 previous PSY courses but it has been awhile. I wanted to see if anyone has opinions on any of these as far as level of difficulty and enjoyment of course. Thanks for any comments.

I've taken abnormal psych and research in psych through them. I really enjoyed them and have endorsed them many times on this form. The study material makes sure you are more than prepared to pass the exam, and with the new grading system they announced a couple days ago, it is even easier to complete the courses with them than it was when I finished up. If you do two in a month, you're only paying $100 per course, and you can get that down even cheaper if you find a coupon.

I would have happily kept using them if they had any other courses I needed.

I am currently working on the social psych course and it does seem to have some overlap with sociology. I have not completed any courses for credit through study.com, Social Psych will be my first. I have completed the Abnormal Psych course through study.com, I used it to study for the TECEP. All the courses I have completed through study.com have been enjoyable. I like the video format and with the recent changes it will be less stressful since the quizzes will count towards the final grade. I would rank the social psych as easier. I found the Abnormal Psych to be a bit more difficult. I think it all depends on preference and previous knowledge, some material might be more familiar. I have not seen any bad reviews on study.com so any course should be easily doable and not too stressful.

If you planning on transferring social psych to TESU for a pysch degree, you should confirm that it will satisfy their 6 CR Social Pysch requirement (Study.com is 3 CR), and that they'll let you make up the remaining 3 CR elsewhere (Psych Electives)

I think this is fine, and then you just make up the credits in the electives area - it's been discussed on this forum in the past, and this is what happened with others. The only reason TESU says they require 6cr is because their own course is 6cr.

Yeah they did it for me for a different source of soc psych, but I'd still check because they implied they wouldn't do it in all cases.

I am not a PSY. major so I don't need the 6 social psy. credits. Just the three (UL) credits is all I need.
