$900 Elmwood Master of Leadership and Management (NA DEAC)
#61
Interesting, just a thought... I don't really know what the price of the "ASU Cert" is going to be, but if it is going to be say $450 for those 15 grad credits, and if they allow those exact classes to be transferred into the program, you then need to complete the remaining 15 credits for $450. Total still yields to $900 for this, intriguing indeed...

All 5 classes are out and about already, you just need to finish it... There hasn't been an option to yet to get it with a transcript yet, they haven't completed the process to this... I was just giving an example of what it may cost to get the credits when the time comes. Hopefully some time soon, like early Fall or mid Fall...

The Master of Leadership & Management courses are:

1) BUS 602 Essentials of Management
2) BUS 607 Communication and Ethics
3) LDR 611 Leading Creativity and Innovation
4) BUS 612 Leadership - Principles and Practices
5) PMP 636 Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
6) BUS 653 Business Research Methods
7) BUS 659 Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources
8) LDR 668 Cross-Cultural Management
9) LDR 669 Critical Thinking and Decision Analysis
10) LDR 670 Organization Theory, Design, and Change
11) PMP 671 Building and Managing Project Teams
12) LDR 676 Advanced Approaches in Leadership

The ASU´s 100 million learners´Advanced Program courses are:

1) Global Leadership & Personal Development
2) Global Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Business
3) Global Accounting: Managing by the Numbers
4) Data Analytics & Digital Transformation
5) Global Marketing in a Digital Age

Maybe 2 of the courses could be similar, but at first sight, I wouldn´t see how to make a case for more of those courses to be similar in a course by course equivalence.

Quite often there are admissions requirements and restrictions for specific programs and not necessarily the entire graduate program. MBA's are notorious for additional admissions requirements. Been there. Done that.

You may have a point. However, I have degrees from both accreditation designations, and the only time I ever had a problem transferring an "NA" degree was one time with the University of North Dakota and that was 16 years ago(?). Never had a problem before or since and I've been with a lot of schools.

That's not the point I was making. The year matters because times have changed. In 2002, transferring a degree/credits from this school would've been very difficult. In 2024, the difficulty is far less. People forget that for nearly a decade there was an alliance system through CHEA where "NA" schools had transfer agreements with hundreds of "RA" schools. That was a big step in putting a dent in this matter, and that was in addition to the hundreds of schools that were already accepting but weren't part of the alliance.

I'm just saying that "yes" is far more likely today than in the past.

Very interesting! The fact that this program has an institute that is state approved/authorized operating under the umbrella of a DEAC nationally accredited school practically gives the same setup structure as ENEB being accredited by Universidad Isabel I. I can see more US schools following this type of model in the future to offer propio style degrees with this cost structure because this is basically what this is.

I've already completed the ASU free graduate certificate and have completed 6 out of 13 courses for the MBA from ENEB. This would be a great program to knock out with a 50% transfer of credit.

This thread is actually the first I've ever heard of this ASU thing. (Guess that's what I get for not hanging out at DegreeForum enough.) I said I wanted to possibly try this Elmwood thing and see if any courses transfer into an MBA program elsewhere, but maybe doing the ASU thing would make that moot.

(The most likely MBA I'd be taking up would be WGU's MBA in IT Management, and there are only three courses for 9 credits that they'd consider for transfer. Could be that ASU's courses would transfer in there anyway.)
Current: WGU BS, Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (093/122 credits)
Done: Pierpont AAS, Board of Governors: Information Systems emphasis (awarded Dec 2022)

I think it’s more like the Thunderbird School of Managment under ASU or The Jack Welch Institute at Strayer University.  Except, it seems like their goal is to eventually be a separate entity

The difference is that Elmwood is currently part of Patton University--like Wharton business school is currently part of UPenn. So it's not the same relationship as eneb has to universidad isabela dos.

Elmwood plans to become independent only after qualifying for its own deac accreditation. ENEB doesn't have its own accreditation and I haven't seen any posts on here that it is seeking it.

Even knowing nothing about the program, that alone leads me to put more value on Elmwood than ENEB. The fact that Elmwood limits students to taking 3 or 4 classes every 4 months makes me hopeful that students would actually have to put significant work in, as well.

I and since the overarching plan is for Elmwood to focus on providing business education to students in africa, I don't expect them to continue offering degrees to US residents in the long term--at least not at this price. I think the price is to attract an initial cohort or two while they get established and to build a track record.  I am guessing they are intentionally losing money on this, just like many businesses intentionally lose money when they first start up.

Maybe once they shift to Africa the price will remain in the $25 per credit ballpark for African students. But even that would surprise me. University education in Africa may generally be cheaper than in the united states, but none of the universities I have looked at there have been *that* cheap.
