I wanted to give a small update on the board since many people have messaged me and emailed me off list asking for an update. Yesterday marked 1 month release, and it went so much better than I thought!
First, I want to comment on my acknowledgements just for a second. This draft was finished before last summer, so please know that everyone here is near and dear to my heart but the membership changes so frequently that there are many active members here whose names do not appear in that list. Please know that I meant no disrespect in any way.
So, there was a format issue that was on my nerves BIG TIME!! When my file was uploaded, they convert it into whatever format they use, but that process took out one of my blank pages. So what? Well, that meant there were some pages that started on the left instead of the right. So what? I know, but it was on my nerves, drove me crazy actually! So, after some help from the fantastic staff at CreateSpace, they helped me upload a new file to correct this issue. My book was offline (print version) for 3 days, but it was worth it to have this fixed. (OCD much?)
So, here is the update!!!
Paperback copies sold in first 30 days: 22
Kindle copies sold in the first 30 days: 11
That's 33 copies!! I'm so freaking excited, I just have to admit that I didn't think I'd sell that many all year. (really)
Funny thing, is that I signed up to allow people to download my book for free if they are amazon prime customers. That means I get no $ but the book gets out there, so I did it. It's only a 90 day promo, and so I've told a few people about it and tweeted it. So, in the first 30 days, guess how many free copies I've sold? Zero. lol <shrug> Not sure why people will buy it but not take it for free- interesting!?
Someone emailed me about "Just Tell Me What to Do" which is a little 99 cent ebook I put on Kindle. That was my "practice" project before I attempted my actual project. It's a legitimate 1 year curriculum for a high school student using only free resources all available online- and they correspond to exams. It's about 8 pages with a bit of intro explaining CLEP. So, if anyone needs something like that it's free now too. (when the promo ends it's 99 cents). I will say that I did that before Saylor dot org came on the scene, and they are my new favorite free source of college level learning, so if you really are in the market for curriculum, try Saylor.
So, that's my update! I'm really excited except when I remember that people are reading something I wrote- then it's panic, fear, and self-degradation, but then I have a glass of wine and go back to excited.
