There's no reason they couldn't have called this a DHA or executive DHA. Even within the field of healthcare, no one is going to know what DEL means. As a post-nominal, I would have assumed it was a certification. There's been a sudden explosion of novel degree titles, and I wonder what's driving it.
Easier for the school to receive accreditation or state approval for a nontraditional title, in some cases.
SUNY Buffalo State University is applying for its first doctorate, a Doctor of Professional Studies (DPS) in Creativity and Change Leadership. The application was previously submitted as a PhD in Creativity and Change Leadership.
Buffalo State and SUNY Buffalo are 2 different universities. The SUNY system is reviewing Buffalo State's doctoral plan. SUNY Buffalo aka University at Buffalo already has doctoral degrees and has for years. Why are there 2 universities part of SUNY in Buffalo? If anyone ever figures it out that would be great. LOL Buffalo isn't that big of a city. It's the second largest in NY but it's not gigantic or anything unless you're talking about snow.
Interesting to see that Buffalo State is cutting 37 programs while looking to add a doctoral degree. Looks like most cuts are education programs unfortunately.
