Guessing the reason for the weird name is due to the very small number of credit hours required. (under 40 hours for a regionally accredited doctorate.)
If they tried to label it a DHA I don't know if CAHME or the ACCME would even consider accrediting the program.
In that sense perhaps it is better to have a short program with a weird name that will draw folks in... compared to a traditional name where folks will maybe look for CAHME approval and turn away when they do not see it.
No, it looks to me like this is a misguided attempt to compete with the one year doctorate offered by the school across town... nevermind that it is neither CAHME approved or regionally accredited.
