From what I am understanding, if you were to get a Liberal Arts Degree from UMPI it would be "terminal". Does that apply to the BSLA from Excelsior? If I get the BSLA from Excelsior, could I go on to get the BABA from UMPI later on (several years) if I decided I wanted or specifically needed a Business degree, or am I forever stuck with just the BSLA?
Every college has their own policies. Excelsior is different than UMPI. Excelsior does not want students to complete a second bachelor's degree with them. For the second bachelor's degree at EU, you have to complete an additional 30 UL credits AFTER your first degree is conferred. They give students a really hard time about it and push them towards master's degrees instead. I went through this with both UMPI and EU.
The BLS at UMPI is a terminal degree. The EU degree doesn't impact UMPI degrees. It was only an issue if an UMPI student wanted to complete a second degree. For many years, BLS students could not complete a second bachelor's degree. That has now been changed. BLS students can now complete a second bachelor's degree after their BLS is conferred.
After I get the degree from EU, will I be able to use all the credits I have earned, put them towards the bachelor's from UMPI and then just complete the 30 residency credits, or does UMPI have any other requirements?
I don't know if I will ever need a business degree, but I need a bachelors ASAP, so I am looking at the BSLA, as that is the easiest and fastest degree I can get right now. I just want to make sure that if for some unknown reason I do need a business degree, I will be able to get one quickly with only needing the 30 UMPI credits (plus 2-4 other business related courses through Study).
