In a nutshell, ALEKS is a program that teaches you a certain subject and gives you problems to solve. Once you complete 70% of the modules, you may use your ALEKS for credit. It's kind of like CLEP in that you get credit without taking a college course. However, ALEKS teaches you the material, whereas CLEP tests you on the material.
Some people prefer CLEP and others prefer ALEKS. Another thing, ALEKS is only $20 per month.
