Not because of age. It's due to hormone changes which cause a number of issues in women's bodies. Hormones regulate so many things in the body. All women do not experience peri-menopause and menopause at the same age. Both also last many years - can be over 10 years!
Yes, that's true. My cholesterol is way higher than my wife's. The doctor said that estrogen removes cholesterol from the blood. After menopause, that advantage goes away, and then genetics takes over. Maybe any MD's here can confirm.
