Yes, that's what I mean.
You don't want to specifically replace the speech credits with new speech credits (but with a better grade). You simply want to suppress the grade altogether.
Once the grade has been suppressed, you will need to make up the three lost credits. But, since "speech" is not a required subject, this can be done by taking any other exam you choose (as long as it fits your degree plan).
Definitely call them back and see if clarifying your intention helps.
