SDC is a breeze if you follow the directions. I have dual monitors and just turned off the 2nd monitor (actually did the same with CLEP's ProctorTrack as well). I've never had anyone ask about drawers or bookcases. I do have a bunch of messy inboxes stacked up on my desk, so I just threw a sheet over them prior to signing on.
From reading the posts here, it seems like ProctorTrack proctors are completely erratic in what they allow and ask for, and many go way beyond the written CLEP guidelines. This, along with their kludgy software, makes the CLEP proctoring thing a huge pain in the ass, and I do not understand why they have not dumped them for someone competent, but it is what it is.
SDC, on the other hand, neither I nor the several other folks I know who have used them have ever had an issue.
