It has to be a Biology class to meet the 3C and 3D requirement and they are 4 credit hours and 8 weeks long. This is a good option if you don't want a proctored class, but, sounds longer than the Study.com BIO100 class which might take about 1 month. I think the ASU class would run about $400 if you take the grade.
The local community college is offering free tuition this Fall and they have an 8 week Biology class so he may do it there depending on the amount of time he is willing to spend on this class.

If he can get the course for free at the community college, that would be my first choice as it's RA and graded, even though it may take longer than the Study.com course. Hands on lab courses are better than virtual labs, so this is the better option... I would only chose alternative credits IF there is a specific reason to do so, such as it'll be more expensive, takes more energy or time to complete, course isn't offered in the next term or something, etc...
