I took Spanish 1 at UMPI with the same professor. Every Milestone is a series of questions which you have to provide a written response in French. I wouldn't take the CLEP. The language ones are tricky from what I've read. One issue you will have because you have a basic understanding of French already is sticking to the low level basics of the vocab you'll be required to use. The Final Assessment is an essay answering a series of questions and a recording with different questions. Your responses will be in French. The professor can be less than polite at times. She has accused several students of cheating which wasn't the case at all. It's called using a dictionary and having a background in the language. I highly encourage anyone attending UMPI to complete Spanish 1 on InstantCert and avoid her whenever possible. InstantCert doesn't have any writing or speaking.
