French Review

Can anyone give any details about the French 1 course?  I need some electives and this seems like a fun course.  When I searched I read that the final requires a recording and a writen component.  What all is required to reach the final milestone?  Is this a course that it is possible to accelerate if one has some basic knowledge of French or is this a course with extensive workload.  Of course everyone's knowledge is different, but im curious if this is a course that one can demonstrate preexisting knowledge easily.  (I want to avoid CLEP, etc because I need residency classes)
