I have made the decision after this term, I am going to withdraw. I'll finish this class and finish with about 2 classes done in 2 months. It's not bad, about a 1 year pace, but, the amount of dedication, work, and access to paywall websites was just too much for me to handle with my own day job, romantic life, and still recovering (it takes sometimes up to 3 years to feel normal after a heart transplant).
I sent a very long and detailed email about my reasons for withdrawing, and how, this program was not designed for a working adult in mind. They would like to discuss this with the Dean and the President. So, I'll have see what happens. In addition a large reason I want to withdraw is the cost. I thought it'd be fine, if I can continue at UMPI versus Brandman, even though I knew it would cost double what Brandan did for 6 months. But, I figured, hey, I could probably do this in 6 months at UMPI. If I did these courses at a realistic pace, for a realistic person, working on it a few hours a day, it'd take me the entire term, maybe more than a term to complete a single one. That isn't good. This also signifies to me, possibly why other schools on the Strut platform using the MAOL course baseline has 6 month terms, not 2 months.
I brought a lot of good publicity to this school, and helped them boost enrollment numbers drastically along with ss20ts.
This isn't an easy decision. I'm actually upset with myself for deciding this, as I had it on my mind, I could also achieve this too. But, no, I can't. Not with their time dedication being like this. I'll probably return to college later in the future, in my home state, of California, and take advantage of my home state discount.
Also, I do not want anyone, including UMPI to blame the professor. He is amazing, and awesome. I think this was a decision done at higher then the professor, or by Strut themselves. This is not a good exposure to a grad entry level program, in my opinion. So far the two professors I've had Professor Wickramasinghe and Professor Biron have both been absolutely amazing and I have learned a lot from them. Both have been more then willing to discuss anything relating to the MAOL with me.
