Does anyone have experience with multiple accounting courses at UMPI. I am looking into their BA in Accounting program.
1. Level of difficulty for the accounting courses?
2. Time commitment to study and pass each accounting course?
3. Grading level for the accounting courses?
Let me know.
btw: Everyone has been a very big help, thank you.
There's no way to say yes the accounting courses are hard or easy. Everyone has different abilities and different experience. Same with the amount of time it takes you to complete the course and the Final Assessment. Ashkir and I have taken a few of the same classes this term. One class took me a week to get through and it took him a day or two. He had his Final Assessment written and submitted before I finished the course content. We all move at different paces. No idea what you mean by grading level. You must earn a minimum of an 80 to pass each course.
ss20ts is absolutely correct here. I've submitted a draft for a single accounting final. It was straightforward. I however only had to take 1 lower level accounting course. So I can't answer about the classes I don't take.
Keep in mind, I am a very experienced industry individual. I'm able to accelerate because this is competency-based. I took Six Sigma belt classes at work. I was sent to learn Leadership from Ritz Carlton by my work, etc. Industry experience means a lot. I am very talented in my field, and I have access to amazing resources and very accomplished executives, if I get stuck on something I can ask them real quick hey can you explain what IRR means like I'm five?
UMPI's content is super, super, self-contained like Sophia. Imagine like 3x of one Sophia.org course together. The average course has something like 50k words. It takes 3 hours to read 50,000 words. I read for about 1 hour before I start work, 10 minutes during a break at work, 30 minutes while I eat lunch, and 2 hours after work. That's enough time to read through everything. I usually download the assessment (final assessment) before I start reading and I answer the questions on the assessment in Word as I read through the content. I read and retain things very well. Especially since a majority of the classes I've taken so far is review. I was offered a chance to PLA it, but I still would've had to do the same amount of classes basically to graduate, so it's just less hassle doing the classes versus PLA.
If I don't feel like dry content, I'll usually watch YouTube videos with captions explaining concepts. Every single class I've been in so far, has YouTube videos, TED talks, etc, that explain what was written.
UMPI staff want you to succeed. They're not like TESU that ignore you after you pay big $$$. Or the University of Phoenix where you have to do the group projects on your own because the other classmates won't help. UMPI is very much about self-motivation.
