None of the ASU courses I posted are self-paced. The only ASU course that is self-paced that I might recommend in this instance would be algebra and that's only if there are no difficulties with math. However, having taken them myself, I can confidently assert that very little reading is required for the courses. The video lectures are quite thorough. Each week's content can be completed in 1 or 2 days, even if one has difficulties in reading.
The TEL Learning classes are mostly text-based (from what I can tell) and are probably not appropriate for the student in question. Some of this can be mitigated by using Speechify or another screenreader but it's not going to be anywhere near as engaging as ASU EA. In most cases, I agree with steering students towards the cheaper option. But, sometimes, you have to pay a bit more for something that will be a better fit for your needs.
