Just an update. I was admitted to UoP and will be doing a term there to transfer credits back to Walden. I don't think I am going to be able to do both concentrations due to finances, but I am going to milk the Tempo program for all the credits that I can before switching. I want to do the social entrepreneurship concentration, but I am going to see if they will let me use the following electives to create a sort of hybrid between healthcare management and social entrepreneurship:
- Law, Ethics, and Policy in Healthcare Administration (WMBA 6604/MMHA 6300)
- Improving Healthcare Performance Through Social Entrepreneurship (MMHA 6682) - This will depend on if they let me take it from their MMHA Tempo program
- Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation: A Global Perspective (WMBA 6880) - probably will transfer in from somewhere. Any suggestions?
This term I will be doing the following courses at UoP:
- BUS 5110 Managerial Accounting
- BUS 5111 Financial Management
Next term at UoP I plan to take:
- BUS 5114: Management Information Systems and Technology
- BUS 5211 Managing in the Global Economy
I have this mapped out in a spreadsheet by term, course delivery method, and cost. If I can swing this my total to complete the MBA will be about $6,851, a little over $1k of that being for taking the social entrepreneurship course somewhere else and transferring it since Walden is $995/cr for grad studies. I am still happy with that cost. I think with all my health issues I could not have completed a WGU MBA in a single term, and two terms at WGU would be $7,600. This method I feel less rushed and still get electives I think will be useful.
I still would like to take a course on business feasibility and one on new venture creation, but I think I can do that through a MOOC or as an elective for the JD program in the future.
