You only need to do half the certificate with TESU courses if you are not enrolled in a TESU degree.
Oh, that’s a bummer; I was going to look more into BOG AAS.
Is there anything I could work towards at all while I finish up my current degree with CUNY, to fill in some of my free time?
Three things...
- First keep in mind that in order to get the BSBA from TESU you will need 24 new credits; all that will need to be earned after your first degree is completed. So don't start anything new or extra for credit that you do not need for your BS in Biology - as they will not count towards the BSBA.
- Secondly, as asked by Yenisei, why is it your plan to go to TESU for a BSBA after you have completed a BS in another area? If it is because you would like to have a Business degree, then you would be wiser to look into and MBA through WGU (as I assume the BSBA plan is low cost related). They do not require you to have an undergraduate degree in business, so that would not be a hindrance for you and the cost could be equal to the BSBA - you would get far more 'bang for your buck' with an MBA that the BSBA (when you'll already have a BS in Biology). Also WGU offers a few options in the MBA concentrations; the standard Business Administration path, along with an MBA Information Technology Management or MBA Healthcare Management (which may be of interest to you since you're a Biology major). Use your free time to learn on your own the subjects that are covered in the MBA degree, give yourself a head start to work through the self-paced courses. There are so many free (i.e. MOOCS) or low cost options available for business lessons, even a low cost Study.com would cover many (and you don't need the credits, you need the knowledge)
- Lastly, if you're just hoping to get a degree (Associates) to get something concrete on your resume 'right now' and before you complete you BS in Biology, then the BOG AAS makes the most sense - you likely already have all that you need for it (being you only have a year left in your BS)
