Here's my rule for getting advice online: Don't believe anything anybody tells you, including me. The people who give advice don't have to live with the consequences of bad decisions you make from believing the advice.
Everybody is different. Get the opinions of many and synthesize what is right for you. For social sciences including history, the CLEP prep books published by REA have been very effective for many people, sometimes the only preparation. If you can cram from reading a book, buy them. If you learn better from watching videos, maybe you should do something else.
If you want to pass the CLEP Biology exam and don't want to waste your time overstudying, you should consider my links: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...ology.html
