You are exactly right, it's pretty similar to the Big 3 set up. OC @KU (Open College @ Kaplan University) allows you to earn credits towards a self designed degree program at your own pace. You can transfer up to 135 of the 180 credits required (quarter system). 45 residency credits are required and can be met by taking assessments ($100, MC or written), or courses at KU. The program is self paced. So, financial aid cannot be used. However, the program is $195/month.
It was flexible enough for me to finish in 3 months. Also, as part of a pilot program, I got my first 4 months FREE.
