I'm wondering what the trick is to getting an appointment for a DSST at Strayer University in south Charlotte. Every time I call the testing center, I am sent directly to voice mail and my calls are never returned. I've heard that they offer testing 5 days a week. The other Strayer location in Charlotte (which does answer phones!) offers only 2 tests -- that's right, only 2 people-- per week and there is a month's wait to get an appt.
Any ideas?

Hello Sandra and welcome! I'm a UOP student and I live in the Columbia, SC area. I have been going to the UOP Charlotte Campus on Arco Corporate Drive off of Arrowwood Road to take some DSST tests as well. I think it's out toward the Charlotte Airport. I know it's just off of I-485 because I travel I-77 North to get there, then I have to go I-485 South-Inner to Goode Prkwy and then to Arrowwood Road. If you are a UOP student they do not charge you the testing fee. All you have to pay for is the DSST/Prometric testing fee. If you are not, I'm not sure what the fee is, but they test on Wednesday afternoon and I think that evening and Saturday morning. Yes, a college campus is open on a Saturday! Can you believe it? I have the person's name and direct contact number at the Arco Corporate Drive campus in Charlotte. If you send me a personal message to my inbox, I'll be happy to forward it to you. I don't think they would appreciate me giving out their name and information over cyberspace. Know what I mean? Their personnel is very nice, friendly, informative, helpful, and most of all patient! I've have had so many ridiculous questions for them it's not even funny! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with! Good Luck!

Hello fellow North Carolinian!! I use Strayer South Charlotte campus for all of my DSSTs. I've been using them since middle of last year. I've started to notice lately that they aren't returning calls as quickly. In fact, I just called them today, but didn't get a hold of them. Lisa (one of the proctors), is usually pretty good about answering calls and returning them. I wish there was a better way to get a hold of them. Its a great testing center. I've only had on problem before (computer wouldn't work).
UOP has been talking about testing for years now, but never seemed to be ready. I guess they're finally up and running. They usually require a two week prior notice to set up a test. I've called Strayer a day before I wanted to do a test.
Pfeiffer University - Charlotte is great for CLEPs. I know you wanted DSSTs, but I thought I'd tell you.
@DutchMom. The only reason UOP doesn't charge students proctor fees is because they take all of your money through their courses. No offence to your school, but their courses are SOOO expensive.
Well Sandra, I wish I could help you more. I'm going to try and test there Monday or Tuesday (if they ever call me back). It's great place and I enjoy testing their (it being the closest center I can get). I'll ask Lisa if there is another number, or a better time, that we can call. Good luck and maybe we'll cross paths.

I would agree with you that UOP is extremely expensive. I am almost done with them or they are almost done with me (another 3 credits). But I do know the testing fees keep the program running. It sustains itself in a way that enables students to do what they need to do to finish school. So while I'm grateful that I do not have to pay the testing fees if I test at a UOP campus, I'm also glad I do not have to pay the fees because this is just one more expense to add to the cost of earning an education! No offense taken! Have a good night!

Thank you DutchMom and Financial World.
FinancialWorld, if you could find out from Lisa the best time to call, I'd appreciate it. I wonder if she ever picks up the phone? Or do calls always go to her voice mail?
DutchMom, I sent you a pm. Contact info for the UoP site would be great!
I've been using CPCC for CLEP tests. They have an efficient online scheduling system

Sandra, Lisa picks up the phone sometimes. If someone is testing, and since that is the testing room, she won't answer the phone. Lately its always gone to voice mail. I'll check about a better time, cause this is getting kind of annoying.
CPCC only tests on certain date right? I could never schedule a test with them when I wanted to take it, so I stopped checking.

Yes, CPCC has a list of dates/times available on their website and you need to make a reservation to test. I sure wish Strayer had a web-appointment app like that. I'm going to try the contact that DutchMom sent me. As it is, I have a May 20 appt. at the N.Charlotte Strayer, but would like one sooner.
