I think most schools have some sort of partnership with companies like Microsoft. My school recently closed down Blackboard, and moved to iTunesU as their new learning management system. They also gave the entire student population iPads, which they will continue to do so for every incoming freshman class, as well as new masters and doctorate students. All classes are now on iTunesU for on-campus and distance learning students; you can access on iTunesU your discussion boards, exams, and quizzes (iPad and iPhone). Best decision ever.
