Windows 10 Free - Prloko - 09-17-2015 Hello All. I am starting an MBA program in about two weeks. My school requires coursework to be done on Windows 7 or later. Problem is, my family weened itself off windows two years ago and is using a variety of other systems in our devices (Mac, IOS, android, ubuntu). The school did offer a free virtual environment for mac systems, but my mac is a desktop and they also required it be a laptop. I was stuck with either buying Windows OS or a new cheap laptop just for school. Then I thought, geez, if the DoD has a program where I get MS Office for cheap ($9.95), my school has to have something similar. That's where I discovered the site below: Download Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro for FREE | OnTheHub My school was a partner and I was able to download Windows 10 for free. I checked for the big three on there also. Excelsior and Charter Oak both have free OSs also, I believe the "education" version. TESC unfortunately did NOT. Check the link and see if your school is there, there was also other links with free or discounted software. Windows 10 Free - dewisant - 09-17-2015 I wouldn't download any MS product for at least 6 months. This opinion is based on my entire adult life being spent as one of Uncle Bill's unpaid Beta-testers. Just saying. Windows 10 Free - Prloko - 09-17-2015 dewisant Wrote:I wouldn't download any MS product for at least 6 months. This is out of academic necessity. But I considering what you said, maybe I'll download 8.1 instead.. Windows 10 Free - Exfactor - 09-17-2015 I think most schools have some sort of partnership with companies like Microsoft. My school recently closed down Blackboard, and moved to iTunesU as their new learning management system. They also gave the entire student population iPads, which they will continue to do so for every incoming freshman class, as well as new masters and doctorate students. All classes are now on iTunesU for on-campus and distance learning students; you can access on iTunesU your discussion boards, exams, and quizzes (iPad and iPhone). Best decision ever. |
