The Peterson's practice tests that you've been hearing about are free for the military, and I believe that they are $20 for anyone not related to a service member, but I'm not positive on that one, so maybe someone else could jump in and answer that for you. Just google "Peterson's practice tests." However, the Ethics in America DSST was updated at some point (2008/2009ish?), and the practice test is still for the older - and arguably easier - version of the test, so it is not a particular good indicator of the difficulty, although according to the Specific Exam feedback for this test the content of both versions is very similar.
