MA in History program at University of Louisiana at Monroe
#1
I'm seriously considering transferring from APU to ULM in order to finish my MA in History, which I explain my reasoning for in another thread, but have run into a bit of a snag. ULM has the following program prerequisites:

A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 18 semester hours of social sciences and 18 semester hours of history.

I have more than enough credit hours in history from previous courses and CLEP exams (along with the 2 APU grad courses I'll have finished by the end of the year), but since ULM doesn't accept Straighterline credits I'm now short on social sciences. Without SL, I only have 6 credits from CLEP Sociology & CLEP American Government (I took CLEP Social Sciences & History, but ULM doesn't accept that exam) which leaves me short 12 credits. There are limited options on what they'll accept from CLEP and DSST exams, but I think I've come up with a plan. I'm going to take the following CLEPs to bring up my social science credits that ULM will accept:
  • Introductory Psychology
  • Human Growth and Development
  • Introduction to Educational Psychology
  • Principles of Macroeconomics (I took the SL course, but that won't count so will have to take the CLEP)

I've also been toying with the idea of completing the BSBA through TESC for awhile now in case I ever need it, especially since I'm only 5 courses away from doing so (barring any changes on July 1st). Here are the courses I'm shy of for the BSBA as it stands now:
  • CLEP Business Law (or through Saylor)
  • DSST Money & Banking
  • Strategic Business Management (probably through Penn Foster)
  • Financial Management (probably through Penn Foster)
  • TECEP Advertising (or another UL TECEP/ECE/business course - recommendations are requested for the "easiest")

The social science CLEPs I need to take can be added on to my transcript for the BSBA.

I'd appreciate any input or recommendations folks here might have. Right now I'm planning on taking off a semester in January in order to finish these, along with the teacher licensing program, and would start up with ULM in Summer or Fall 2014. That should give me plenty of time between now and then to finish everything. Thanks.
