Hi Laura,
Welcome back! I looked into doing the undergraduate accounting certificate from TESC, but it has been a while, so there may be newer, better options than what I know. In this certificate, you can test out of Financial and Managerial Accounting (CLEP or DSST for Financial and the new TECEP for Managerial - TECEP Exams, or take Straighterline's courses if you prefer). Intermediate Accounting I and II would be courses; they can be taken at LSU (www.outreach.lsu.edu/CollegeCredit or LSU Online), or Columbia College (Columbia College), or other colleges (look into your local community college or university). Besides these, you would choose 6 accounting credits, which can include TECEP Federal Income Taxation, Cost Accounting (Straightlerline's Managerial Accounting, Columbia College, and others), or Advanced Accounting. Financial and Managerial Accounting and Federal Income Taxation are the only college level accounting exams that I know of.
A cost effective and fast plan would be:
CLEP/DSST/Straighterline Financial Accounting
TECEP/Straighterline Managerial Accounting
LSU Intermediate Accounting I & II
Straighterline Managerial/Cost Accounting
TECEP Federal Income Taxation
Hope this helps,
LaceyLady
