the goal of a CLEP should not be a quick and easy 3 credits
the goal should be learning
if you're just going to cram and forget it all one week after the exam you may as well pay someone else to take the exam for you
if you've read and enjoyed American Literature then take that exam; same with English Literature
but just cramming the facts and never reading the books defeats the whole purpose
