I don't think this is as important as some people make it out to be. At my old b&m school you could get either a BA or BS in either Comp Sci or Math. The difference between the tracks was nothing more than taking 4 more specific hard science courses, with the balance being 4 less free electives. And someone who double majored Comp Sci/Math for a BA wound up taking more math and computer science than someone getting a BS in just one of those majors. So some people might think it's an important distinction but I don't think so.
And as far as Excelsior goes and how people on this forum usually get their credits, a BS is kinda' easier than a BA because of Excelsior's credit categorization. So YMMV.
