Hi,
Has anyone ever taken the Social Science and History clep and used it toward the history depth at EC? I am concerned since history is only 40% of the test. EC might not consider it a "real" history test and just consider it for general education requirements.
I only need one more history class (lower level) and the info literacy to graduate. And I am looking for an easy out.

If SS and History doesn't work for the depth, there is no need for me to take it. So I want to make sure. I know it is 6 credits but I just took the pretest and got 90 questions right out of 125 so I figure with some light studying I could take the test next week and pass.
Thanks.

Have you contacted EC on the matter? As long as you're enrolled, they should know the answer to your question.
I don't see why it wouldn't count as at least three history credits. Otherwise, there's US History I & II, Western Civ I & II, and various DSSTs.
(And yes, you could definitely pass it next week, if not sooner.)

Hi Ruddyigore:
Thanks for your help. No, I am not enrolled yet. Since I only needed a handful of classes anyway to graduate I decided to wait until I finished my classes. Then enroll immediately apply for graduation since I heard I could save on fees. Other all I pretty much knew what I needed, except for odd questions like this I have been fine since the forum has been very helpful.
I already took US history 1 and 2 and Russian History. I am sick of studying and am looking for an easy out.

No, the CLEP Social Sciences & History exam won't count toward a depth in history. I asked this question back when I was enrolled, I posted the email from my adviser somewhere in this sub-forum. My adviser told me it was too general and that's why it wouldn't count. Sorry!
