I think distance learning is accepted these days because so many traditional colleges have online classes now. I think when people discriminate it's more for the name of the school. For example, if you graduate from Syracuse U online or USC online, I don't think people would say anything. Another example, is my cousin dropped out of UMass Amherst (traditional) with a year left 8 years ago. However, her employer in NYC gave her a promotion on the condition that she finished her degree, so she ended up going back to UMassOnline and finished her degree. Nobody questions the integrity of her degree. Unfortunately, I think we live in a brand name society and if people have a hard time recognizing the name of your school they tend to raise an eyebrow. When I was young and immature I was guily of this myself. My friends and I would tease our other friends who were attending small name B&M colleges as well. Obviously, I regret this now.
