Stuck in admissions process
#21
@pacha007, Please fill in the addendum and template while you're waiting for a response from UMPI, without knowing much about you scenario, we won't know if it's going to be possible for you to complete the degree with just 1 session.

Not many people are able to complete the entire 30 credits in 1 session, when I tried on my first session, I only was able to complete 7 of the 10 classes I wanted to transfer, I have yet to complete the remaining ones (the 3 that will go towards the MAOL).

@SpartacusPM, I read your previous post/thread, have you applied to TAMUC for their CBE and deciding between UMPI? I noticed in your previous thread, you haven't filled in the addendum and template either, I was the last person who commented in your thread.

Since there processing time as 7-8 weeks. They claim to have mailed it out this week on Monday and since UMPI is currently closed due to power outages in the area, it seems unlikely I will be able to begin the Spring Session 1.

Once I realized they may be possible I went ahead and submitted my application to East Texas A&M University and submitted all my electronic transcripts. In the hopes that one of them work out for the early Spring Session. If not I will have to aim for Spring 2.

You mentioned that if you don't get in to Spring 1 that your credits will go down the drain and that simply isn't true. You may have to postpone 1 session or 2, but don't get discouraged when you are so close.

Yes our situations are very similar. I also submitted my application to TAMUC like an hour ago lol and sent the required documents but haven't received a confirmation email yet.
I am limited by time so a Spring 2 admission might delay my future plans or even cancel them.

Any update? I am asking since I just received my acceptance email from UMPI, for the Spring 2 start date.

Hi @bjcheung77,

I am just seeing this message today. I applied to TAMUC/ETAMU as more of a backup incase UMPI really dragged their feet or I had issues with them not being accepted. I have already been accepted by TAMUC/ETAMU just waiting on the transcript evaluation. I was just received the acceptance email from UMPI today.

I didn't complete the addendum/template since I didn't need help deciding which school or courses to take, as all the wikiboards and other resources already had everything to choose which courses I needed.

Are there other advantages I am not realizing to complete these templates?

Did you pay for any of the classes or credits for the 5 courses you passed for that school during that time?

If so, I'm pretty sure you can still get a copy of your transcripts if you contact the school because I've seen it happen first-hand. I can give you a template of what to send to the college registrar's office in order to properly request it. But that only works if you paid at least some money rather than none at all.

Sorry I just saw your message. Yes all of the classes were paid for and I didn't receive any financial aid since I am an international student. I discovered that they put the financial hold because housing fees were accrued for 15 years and now the amount is in the thousands of dollars. We agreed on a one-year payment plan but they said they wouldn't release the hold until the full amount is paid. In the meantime, UMPI won't accept me until I send that transcript.
Could you please send me that template? I would really appreciate it!

Hello. Sorry I just saw your post. I'm glad you managed to get admitted. Did UMPI receive your transcript? Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the financial hold removed!

Hi, so being an international student complicates things since the White House regulations to release transcript holds are technically for those who took at least some financial aid for the relevant semesters or who were/are eligible for federal financial aid. Specifically it states:
Quote:[an]
institution will provide an official transcript that includes all the credit or clock
hours for payment periods in which the student received any Title IV, HEA funds and
were paid in full. However, an institution may withhold sections of the transcript
associated with specific payment periods with a balance under certain conditions,
resulting in a partial transcript. The payment periods not associated with the debt
must be released.

However, it may still apply to your situation since the interpretation could also be read as regarding courses paid for the semesters you were a student regardless of Title IV status. In fact some colleges are already pre-emptively taking the latter interpretation, like Delaware State University (and many other colleges have put up notices similar to this):
Quote:In order to provide the best customer service to our students, the University has decided to apply the new rules liberally – allowing for release of full semester transcripts (as opposed to limited credit hours) and applying the policy to all students whether they are recipients of federal aid or not.

https://www.desu.edu/admissions/records-...icy-update

And the reason why the vast colleges have chosen to just release the full transcripts to students in these situations is because they either don't have the software capability and/or the manpower to manually go through and partially release official transcripts for classes that are paid versus classes that are were not, so its easier to just do one wholesale policy.

I'll send you the template via PM.

In your case I would both try calling the financial aid office and also send an email due to the pressing time. Do this ASAP before Jan 20 when the new administration takes office because they can (and most likely will) completely undo the new regulations. Also try to request the transcripts via Parchment before this just in case Parchment may have access to it (some people online have stated that doing just this has worked out for them ever since the new regulations were put in place).
