Upper level Computer Science Credits TESU BA CS
#1
Has anyone tried to use Coursera certificates towards the upper level 18 elective course requirement?
I see on Coursera that there are some upper-level 300 & 400 courses, I wonder how flexible will they be at applying them towards the BA in computer science degree?

IBM Full Stack Software Developer Professional Certificate
https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/ibm-full-stack-cloud-developer
includes TESU equivalency Course: CLD-4200 Architecting Cloud Solutions

IBM Data Analysis and Visualization Foundations Specialization
https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/ibm-data-analyst-r-excel
includes TESU equivalency course:  DSI-399 Special Topics in Data Sci/Analyt.

IBM Data Analytics with Excel and R Professional Certificate
https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/ibm-data-analyst-r-excel
includes TESU equivalency course: DSI-322 Interactive Data Visualization

I read that the SAS Advanced Programmer Professional Certificate will satisfy upper-level elective credit and will transfer in as STA - 399 Special Topics in Statistics

I am getting this information from the Coursera Wiki Page : https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Coursera
Degrees In Progress:
EVMS Doctor of Health Science
Completed Degrees:
Doctor of Healthcare Administration Dec 2021
Masters of Business Administration July 2022

Bachelors of Science in Police Studies '14
Advanced Graduate Certificate in Criminal Investigations '15

CLD-4200 will fall under the BA in computer science (G) Area of Study, STA-399 will fall under (H) Additional Area of Study.

The DSI will not count towards the computer science Area of Study.

You can read my review on the Full Stack Software Developer Professional Certificate, I personally wouldn't recommend it unless they fixed the issues with their final. The IBM Data Analysis and Visualization Foundations Specialization wasn't bad, but it doesn't work in your favor towards the Area of Study, if you need some extra electives or want to increase your knowledge, then it's not a bad course.

The SAS Advanced Programmer Professional Certificate is recommended as it is an easier win for an UL for the Area of Study, if you never used SAS before you might need to do part of the SAS Programmer Professional Certificate just to learn some of the basics, or watch some youtube videos on SAS to learn the basics to help make progress towards the Advanced Programmer Cert.

So with an additional area of study (H) that would count as elective credit and not toward the 18 upper-level credits? Sorry I am not currently enrolled but doing to planning here

Ah sorry, I've added more details to my previous post, but to answer your question - If it's within the Additional Area of Study (H) it would count towards your 18 UL credits. If it is within the electives section, it does not count towards the Area of Study.

Your Capstone would count towards the 18 UL credits, so you technically need 15 UL credits.

Edit: I just realized how confusing this might be since you aren't enrolled, when you are enrolled, then you can view the progress of your degree, which has sections that is different than the public credit distribution page on tesu's website. So on their website, you have within Section 2 (A) Required Courses, (B) Computer Science Electives, © Natural Science, Math & Computer Science Electives, (D) Capstone & then there is Section 3 - Electives.

The DSI- prefix will most likely fall into Section 3 - Electives, which under the degree progress is listed as Electives. However, Section 2 within the degree progress actually has each of the Section 2 (A) Requested Courses - split up as Follows:

Computer Science:
(A) Programming
(B) Data Structures
© Calculus 1
(D) Discrete Math
(E) Operating Systems
(F) Computer Architecture
(G) AOS Electives = (B) Computer Science Elective
(H) Additional AOS Electives = © Natural Science, Math & Computer Science Electives

Must you complete the certificate to get credit for CLD-4200 or can you complete part of it only?

That's correct, you need to get the entire certificate complete to get the ACE recommendation for credit. Without completing them, you won't get the Lower Level and Upper Level credits as recommended by ACE. My suggestion is to create a spreadsheet and try mapping out what you can transfer, link us to that spreadsheet for advice...
