I am interested in obtaining a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies with a management minor from UMPI. I think this may be the best option for me, but I am open to suggestions. I have completed some college classes at a Oakland Community College (MI), however the class were taken and completed from 1988-1999. I took 1 CLEP exam - Principles in Marketing in 2013, which I passed. I have the following questions:
1.) Are the credit I have to old to transfer?
2.) If the credits will transfer, where can I get help designing a degree plan?
I would like to complete the degree, by using Sophia/CLEP/study.com/Instant Cert credits if possible and transferring 90 credits to UMPI. Most of the courses I completed at OCC were Food Service Management Courses.
I would like to Thank everyone in advance for your assistance, I am new to forum.

@NJC2023, Welcome to the board, in addition to what you've asked, it's better to also bring in more info by filling in the addendum and template. It's great asking questions and getting answers... Having said that, to help you more, you want to let people know exactly what you are trying to do by providing a bigger overview so we get the full picture of your scenario. Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works
To answer your questions: 1.) Are the credit I have to old to transfer? Yes and No, most classes wouldn't matter for general education/electives, the minor, concentration, major at the institutions we recommend generally have a date of 7-10 years to make sure they are 'current'. You should be fine for UMPI.
2.) If the credits will transfer, where can I get help designing a degree plan? There are action plans (degree plan templates already on the WIKI) and you should create a spreadsheet using the template on the WIKI, once you have it updated, make it a viewable file (not editable) on your google or one drive. Link us to it and we'll comment.

Most of your existing credits are going to be electives. Reading Improvement probably won't transfer; it looks like a remedial class.
Have you set up a spreadsheet with what UMPI wants and matched it to what you have? American Government, for instance, should work for GEC requirements 1C and 5E.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

I have not set up a spread sheet yet, but I will start working on this right away. I was hoping to use Sophia and Study.com for most or all of my GE requirements, if possible. Thank you for your help!

It's definitely possible to do that! There are degree plans on the wiki to help you decide what to take where: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI

That's right, your best bet is the degree/minor you've selected, you can always add another minor or take the 3-4 classes that can exempt you for up to 3 classes towards the UMPI MAOL. Essentially, your current credits can be used for the 60 credits in the electives, make sure to take the Sophia.org classes to fulfill your general education, and then complete the UMPI residency credits.

Thank you for the reply! I know that I am new to all of this, are you able to provide an explanation: "you can always add another minor or take the 3-4 classes that can exempt you for up to 3 classes towards the UMPI MAOL" I don't know what this is.

Easy, your current credits don't have any upper level, the management minor only has 2 upper level classes, you need to get 8 classes more that are upper level, thus you need to either add another minor to get those classes and/or add classes that you can use towards the MAOL. That's the main reason I tell people when doing the UMPI BLS in any minor, you need to to decide if you want to add random upper level classes or use that for another minor, or use classes toward prerequisites for the Masters.
