I had many of the same certs and credits as nyjosh above, plus some local college credits and a few other certs.  I had more than 60 hours in the same field, but not all are listed on my degree plan for the BAS.  I assume it's simply because they were not needed. I asked for the BAS and explained my background in the field when I did so.  I didn't get a response, but when my degree requirements came over, it was a form specific to the BAS and all my degree program info says BAS in Mainestreet.

Only these 44 hours are listed as the part that met the requirements for the BAS (plus the AAS from Pierpont):

Coursera - Google IT Professional Certificate (12 hours)
Coursera - Google Data Analytics Certificate (9 hours)
Coursera - IBM Data Analysis & Visualization Foundations Specialization (V2) (9 hours)
Coursera - AWIT Real-World Cloud Product Management Specialization (6 hours)
Local Community College Programming languages (8 hours)

I don't know what the magic courses or magic words + magic courses are, but in my field it will be a much better degree to have.
Hi thanks for directing me to this post.  Your certs…how long did it take to get these?   Would they be helpful for a full stack developer?  How about expense?   My husband doesn’t really want to go back to school, but I think it would open up some doors that are currently closed because he doesn’t have a degree.

If you have experience, you can jump right to the exams. Then you can get these certs pretty quickly in a week.

Two certs can equal 20+ college credits, which is 1/3 of a Peirpoint degree.  Add Sophia to finish, and you could have an Pierpont Associate degree in just 2 months.

Many people who are unsure about college might start with free or cheap college credit such as TADA/Coursea, ModernStates/Cleps, and Free Trial Sophia/Sophia.

20 credits is 1/3rd of a Pierpont degree. Maybe you mean about half of the elective credits needed after the 15 required credits are accounted for?
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:

Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)

Great work in getting those 8 certificates from Google! Most of them have ACE credits as well, so you can add those to your Credly, a couple don't but it's good to have on the resume or in your social media profiles, and just for the knowledge/learning experience gained from taking the certs! Looking forward to your Sophia.org updates, just do as much as 90 credits to transfer over to UMPI as general education/electives for a BAS or BLS, maybe a BA or BABA of your choice!

That is the plan to take 20-25 total classes on Sophia Learning, before I submit my request to Pierpont for the BOG AAS Degree. Then I wanted to get into Cybersecurity and get these CompTia Certifications (IFT+, A+, NETWORK+, SECURITY+) and get a job in GovTech.

My brother has the Pierpont AAS Info Systems, has used TADA to literally get every Google cert available.

He has applied to UMPI to the BLS program, what would be the benefits of him applying to this BA program instead?

Trying to understand so he can do the best program. He is tech savvy and is currently a project manager (at a very very small organization) so his degrees are to help him pivot into a career at a larger org with more financial opportunity and growth opportunities.

Thank you in advance.

Cool, a great plan, I would skip the ITF+ as IT Fundamentals isn't free and very basic that you may already have the skills for already, unless it's stackable into something larger, it's ROI/Value isn't really there. Having said that, A+, Network+, Security+ should be part of the 'stackable' options, it goes well with the certs, degree, experience trifecta I recommend.

You have to apply for the Your Pace programs available, which is the BA, BABA, BLS, the BAS isn't an option when you apply. Once accepted, transcripts reviewed, you email the advisor to change the programs (that is if you're eligible), the BAS requires an AAS, part of the AAS, you need 40+ technical credits, just having the AAS is not enough for entry. Not many people know the BAS/BLS requirements differ, it's actually easier to finish the BAS...

BAS generally looks better on a resume, in certain circumstances, than BLS. A Liberal Studies degree is known to be a pure check-the-box option. It works fine for some students, though. The BAS may be perceived to be "more rigorous" or "more difficult" as an option, even though it really isn't.

My brother has all of the Google coursera courses, I wonder if that is enough technical credits... he also has a lot of the sophia tech ones too.

Thank you, would you say the BAS looks better for potential immigration purposes as well?
