Nearing the finish line! Advice appreciated.

Thumbs Up
I have twin sons that will be ready to apply to TESU in December. TESU is the preference IF they can also earn the CS associates. Otherwise, I know that Excelsior is cheaper.

I think that they only need to complete Government and 2 Upper Levels for their Bachelors. They would like to use Coopersmith for the UL.

I would love confirmation or suggestions for completing their degrees. Especially any insight on earning the ASNSM in Computer Science.

I figured I would send TESU the CC transcript and Credly first since I only get the 2 free initial evals.

Location: Arizona
Age: 17-will be 18 when applying. I know they could apply now but we have financial reasons to wait until December.
What kind of degree do you want?: TESU Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies with a Social Science concentration + ASNSM Computer Science

Regarding the evals: if everything is received and processed at the same time, it should only count as one evaluation. Sometimes it's necessary to tell TESU to wait on the eval until they have received all of the transcripts. I'd strongly encourage getting everything looked at so that the whole picture is clear.

If you send in the transcripts FIRST and then apply, they should be evaluated all at once. No guarantees, though. Especially if there are any paper transcripts in there.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming

That is not to say order your transcripts and then wait for TESU to get them before applying. They need to have you apply before they can evaluate them.  If you send them transcripts and then wait a week or more before applying you run the risk of them not looking at the transcripts you already sent at all (because they would have no idea who they were for when they got them). Send the alternative credits as soon as possible (eq: Credly transcript), they tend to be good about evaluating any school transcripts that you listed when you apply as they arrive (and those tend to be the paper options in the mix).

@TwinMom, are they planning to get 15 residency credits or pay the residency waiver fee? If you're paying the residency waiver fee, then get all the remaining credits completed first and then apply, set a schedule and spreadsheet of remaining courses. If you're taking the 15 credits flat rate term for residency, you really need to plan what course you're taking to finish off the degree.

We will pay the residency waiver fee.

I think/hope we only have the Government and 2 UL to finish the Bachelors degree. Is that correct?

Anyone have any guesses on which of the courses they've completed (or which they should still take) would work towards the ASNSM?

The TEEX might count as UL. If it was UL when you took it.

Send in your CC transcript first, since that's the one that's questionable on what will work for the AoS (for the ASNSM in Computer Science). And the Coopersmith transcript, since we don't know for sure how your courses will come in, especially what's UL and what will work in the AoS (it's been a while since anyone reported on the specific courses you have).

From what I can see, here's what you still need:
Civic Engagement - Am Govt (Sophia) or POLS 103: Comparative Politics (SDC)
2 UL AoS courses (Coopersmith or SDC)
1 200-level AoS course (you'd want to do a CS course here to meet your ASNSM requirements anyway)

For the ASNSM in CS, you need 18cr of CompSci courses and 9cr of Math, NatSci or CS. I'm going to guess that everything you took at the CC except for CIS105 Survey Comp Info Systems will come in as ITS or CYB or something that will not count towards CS (IT is not CS). CS is more theory, while IT is applied, therefore those courses generally don't work.

Since College Algebra, Comp Info Sys and Meteorology are used in the GE area, you can't use them in the AoS. So really all you have in the CS AoS is Environmental Science and Intro to IT. You will need to do a bunch of courses to get those CS credits.

Sophia
Intro to Statistics (Math)
Human Biology (NatSci)
Intro to Chemistry (NatSci)
Intro to Programming with Python (CS)
Intro to Relational Databases (CS)
Intro to Java Programming (CS)

SDC (LL will meet ASNSM objective, while UL will meet ASNSM objective AND get your UL needed for the BALS)
COMPSCI 105: Intro to Operating Systems
COMPSCI 112: Programming in C++
COMPSCI 114: Programming in R
COMPSCI 201: Data Structures & Algorithms
COMPSCI 307: Software Engineering
BUS 303: Management Info Systems (UL)
COMPSCI 302: Systems Analysis & Design (UL)
COMPSCI 303: Database Management (UL)
COMPSCI 306: Computer Architecture (UL)

I personally would recommend getting your UL credits from SDC in CS, because it kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Otherwise, you'll pay $300 to get the UL Coopersmith credits and then still have to do SDC to get your CS credits, which doesn't make any sense. You should always look at what will give you the most bang for your buck, and UL CS courses will do that, and for less money ($235).

Yes, you only have a couple of computer science courses under your belt. I would get some Sophia.org courses completed and get their Java Programming one done too, then do a couple of Saylor.org Computer Science I & II, it's just an exam for both.

Thanks so much for the details! I was wondering if the csm learn (which I just realized I forgot to post) would work for their quantitative and then the Algebra could go towards the aos?

Also, I believe TESU will give credit to my one son that has the Network+ and Security+ certs. Would these work in the aos?
