Has anyone mapped a degree through Stayer or Capella?
#11
Yup, anabin. Which is only for Germany but I have the feeling that quite consulted.
Strayer is +/- and they say something else I attach later on.
Capella is +h and a doctorate university.
and the google translation of it "A bachelor's degree from Strayer University does not give access to a master's degree. Strayer University is a so-called "for-profit" institution that provides training at a very basic professional level. If you have a bachelor's degree, we can at most recommend the granting of a subject-specific university entrance qualification (here: economics)."
I searched Strayer and Capella specially for this post because I grew curious. Very surprised to see that.

I find it all a little bit strange. I do not know what will happen when you bring the papers and they make a personal evaluation. That is what it appears on the web. All that said...is all very strange and I will like to know the history behind this evaluation.

Interesting. I also wonder about those evaluations. Capella is just as for-profit and potentially dubious as Strayer is, IMO. Anabin is mysterious.

In my opinion for profit can sometimes be a problem and public universities are better perceived.

Strayer and Capella are both for-profit schools.  So there's no upside in that respect to either of them.

I would say that if you can choose either one, they are both about equal - so then, you choose based on other factors, like degree (top reason), courses offered, length of terms, ease of GE completion, etc.  Probably the biggest factor after which degree you like is going to be the number of credits they will accept from Sophia (and other ACE providers like SDC).

My daughter is going to Purdue Global, not because she's thrilled with the degree options necessarily, but because her employer pays 100% tuition, up front.  So she can take 2 courses per 10wk term, and then during breaks she takes SDC courses (I work there).  It's a great deal for her - she'll have a bachelor's degree for free in far less than the 4 years it would have taken her if she'd done it another way.

Looks like Strayer allows up to 84cr of transfer, and they list what they will accept from Sophia and SL (and I know they will take other ACE credits, they're just not partners with SDC). https://www.strayer.edu/tuition-and-fina...e-courses/

Capella is quarter-based, and will take 75% transfer (135qcr).

Either way, I might take EVERYTHING possible from Sophia, especially things that will transfer to other schools easily, and are popular requirements (English Comp I & II, Ethics, College Algebra, Stats, US History, American Gov, etc.).

Capella and Strayer both are under Strategic Education, which also owns Sophia.org - It depends which degree you're going for as some degrees are available at one or the other, and not both. For example, Doctorate degrees are only offered at Capella, some competency based degrees including Masters offered are also only available at Capella... I wonder if this Masters is still available at Capella for the $7200 price I brought up a few years ago https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...200-and-up
