Should we always mention the campus?

It’s the online versions of their courses which they’ve had for quite some time.  The down side is that the online school is expensive by comparison with other online options.

Interesting viewpoint, I appreciate your thoughts.  What do you think of this statement on Behrend's website?  Is this not misleading / misrepresentation?

https://behrend.psu.edu/about-the-colleg...best-value

"Power of Penn State
As a Behrend student, you’ll earn a degree from a University that’s in the top 100 worldwide, according to 2022 QS World University rankings. And if you pursue an Engineering degree at Behrend, you’ll study in an undergraduate program ranked in the top 40 in the country.

After you graduate, you’ll become part of one of the country’s largest alumni networks. Penn State is a name that opens doors—anywhere you go."

The world-ranked school is NOT behrend, it's the main campus.  But Behrend "sells" it like you get a degree from the main campus.

Actually, it IS the Behrend engineering program that was ranked in 2021.  Penn State operates as one body.  One alumni network.  They are all Lions.  They all get the same degree.  They all say “The Pennsylvania State University “.  They don’t even differentiate the online program.   It’s not like other states where they differentiate (like UMPI, LSUS).  So, I guess in the case of Penn State, they probably “could” leave off the campus.  And there may be some that do.  But in the local area, those that I have come in contact with do include it.

UMPI doesn't differentiate either. There are different portals for signing up for YourPace vs. in-person classes, but everyone gets the same UMPI degree.

But their degree specifies Presque Isle and they have their own mascot, right?  Umpi grads aren’t given a degree that says simply “University of Maine” and they are Owls, not Bears.

Fair enough. But it sounded like you were saying that UMPI YourPace students get a different diploma from the on-campus students.

Oh no… I was just referring to campus differentiation.  So when Penn State says Behrend campus or World campus, etc. all get a Penn State degree, that’s true.  The degrees all simply say “The Pennsylvania State University”.  And they all are part of one Alumni association.   The benefit of the smaller campuses can be lower cost, (although not by much), and slightly higher acceptance rate mainly because there’s fewer applicants.

If you go to something other than the flagship than you should list campus.

For example if you go to UW Madison then the University of Wisconsin is fine.

If you go to UWO. Then you should list University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Yeah, for the University of Maine, you basically indicate your campus.
People don't need to know about Your Pace or butt-in-seat programs.

University of Maine at Augusta
University of Maine at Farmington
University of Maine at Fort Kent
University of Maine at Machias
University of Maine at Presque Isle
University of Maine School of Law
University of Southern Maine

Correct. University of Maine is an entirely different university. Each U of M is its own university. None of us who graduated from UMPI graduated from U of M. Yes, UMPI's mascot is the snow owl. I couldn't tell you what U of M's mascot is.

I agree that the universities themselves make it confusing.

I do not see how it is lying to say you went to Penn State,
no matter which campus you received your degree from.

If a prospective employer wants more info,
they can ask.

After you have experience in your field,
and are out of college a few years, I do not think it matters much.
