The second link is for faculty. We don't know what changes are coming with Brightspace. We do know that some courses have been rewritten and are now a paper instead of an exam.
Hello - by chance has anyone seen if the MAOL program will also migrate to Brighspace?
(I am not in the MAOL currently, but assume it's the same platform as the 4yr classes?)
thank you
UMPI is moving off of the Strut Learning Platform. It's mostly likely safe to say the MAOL is moving as well. Wouldn't make sense to pay for both platforms. You could ask your academic advisor about the move. thank you, am currently in BABA for may grad; just dreaming about next steps and perhaps the MAOL.

Can anyone speak to how BrightSpace has impacted the YourPace program? Has UMPI went more exam based rather than paper / essay based? My initial draw to UMPI was that it was more essay based. I feel like moving to exam based would put them more into the WGU category.

UMPI hasn't moved yet. It appears that the move is happening this fall. Staff has said that exams will be going away with Brightspace.

OP: Especially interesting, I find the part in the FAQ about proctoring. Does that mean, UMPI is going to have proctored exams and courses from that term on?
Does UMPI currently not do proctoring for their tests, or do they require us to pre-record?
I kinda like the idea of live recording, because you'll know right away if you passed, I'm always nervous that my cat will come in during a recording and meow, and then I'll pass, but they'll end up rejecting me once they hear the recording. Haha.

Staff has said that exams are going away. That's all we know until the move actually happens. The current exams are not proctored.

The live proctors out there have a reputation of failing, or threatening to fail, someone because of instances similar to your example. On the other hand, recorded proctors almost never fail anyone who is testing legitimately. Stay in-frame and facing the camera (or working out problems on your sheet of paper) and you're fine. The same cannot be said of live proctors.

@chattenoire, you're doing the bare minimum 30 credits at UMPI, you should complete whatever is currently missing from your spreadsheet first. I think UMPI will not have any proctored exams if they're getting rid of the exams entirely, so that point really shouldn't be a problem. Focus on your current remaining transfer credits first, when you start UMPI, you'll be doing assessments and assignments.

This will suck, I planned my whole UL elective credit classes based on what sounded fun as a project OR because the exam was considered easy if you studied. I hate papers, hate hate hate.

@learningthehardway, a member on the board mentioned that a capstone course was 3/4ths the entire degree of a competency based program. I mean, you'll have to do a bit of writing, but compared to a capstone, you'll be having it much easier and faster too...
