Getting ahead before semester start

Hey all, I cannot thank you enough for sharing your wisdom on this forum - it's been a huge help during my planning process.

I'm accepted for the summer 2 semester for my BABA with Management & Leadership focus, which begins on July 3rd and runs until Labor Day. I realize it will be very difficult, but I'd like to try to knock out all of my classes in a single semester. The semester doesn't start for another two weeks, however.

So my question is:
Is there anything I can be doing right now in order to maximize my time, get ahead, or otherwise make the upcoming semester's course load more manageable?

If added context helps, I've transferred in credits from my university, Sophia, and AP tests. Here are the degree requirements I still need to fulfill:

• MAT 140 (is it possible to get my Calculus experience to replace this?)
  
• PHI 152 (or Objective 4C equivalent)
  
• HUM 103 (or Objective 2D equivalent) (should I attempt to complete this via Sophia before the semester?)
  
• BUS 200
  
• BUS 244
  
• BUS 240

You can take Calculus 1 on Sophia and transfer that in for MAT140. 2D you must complete at UMPI. There is no option on Sophia for this. And 4C has several options on Sophia:

4C Introduction to Ethics, Ancient Greek Philosophers, Critical Thinking, or Approaches to Studying Religions

If you already have Calculus, it wouldn't hurt to try to get it to replace MAT140.

For HUM103, they're going to stop offering it. I forget the course number of what they're replacing it with, but it sounds SO much better and easier than either HUM103 or the Sophia equivalent.

For 4C, Ancient Greek Philosophers should be a (relatively) quick way to meet the requirement. Though, there is a paper, so you'll want to hop on that as soon as possible.

Wonderful. Thank you both! I will try to have discussions on getting my AP Calculus to count for MAT140. And I'll look into taking a go at Ancient Greek Philosophers on Sophia. That will at least get that list down to 11 courses.

You must complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI. You also have to complete a specific number of UL credits at UMPI and credits in your major/minor at UMPI. 11 courses is fine. That's 33 credits.

2D is the GEC area HUM103 covers. HUM103 is an UMPI course which is leaving at the end of summer. There's already 2 options for 2D on YourPace aside from HUM103. There's an English Lit course and a graphic design course as options. Like I said before, there is NO Sophia equivalent.

From a quick glance, you have 13 courses left for the degree, you can transfer in a max of 3 more. I would suggest trying to complete those three before the session starts if at all possible by following the advice above.

BUS 325 - This is a long and tedious course. No one has found an alternative to taking it through UMPI.
BUS 440 - This is pretty quick at UMPI
BUS 415 - I used Study.com Business 312: Advanced Operations Management
BUS 469 - This was a very straightforward course at UMPI
BUS 489 - I avoided taking this course even though I had time and it would have meant completing a second concentration.

Obviously you need to take 10 courses through UMPI, so you likely don't want to take all of the courses listed here through Study.com...but there could be an argument for taking some of them if you have time and if the cost isn't a hardship. For me, I took some courses I had less interest in through study.com - ungraded - which left me some room for some electives at UMPI. This allowed me to take a few "easy A" courses at UMPI instead of courses i would have struggled to be interested in.

Yes! There were a variety of factors. The lower cost was a big one, but the primary reason for going with UMPI was the name. It simply sounds like the most legit school out of all the schools that get discussed on this board - probably because it has the University of Maine system backing in its name.

This is incredibly helpful. I really appreciate your insight into what each of these courses will demand. I'm going to use this to plan out my semester. After taking all these classes recently, is there anything that you think I can do to get a jump on some of these UL BUS classes prior to the semester starting on 7/3? Or is that pretty much impossible?

It is pretty much impossible.  

Once you start, I would try to get BUS 325 out of the way right away.  It is tedious. It is an exam, and the exam questions align with the quiz questions, so it is straightforward to prepare.  Just a lot of tedious material. For me, I would rather get it done while still fresh and motivated. Some people want to knock out the easiest first and get momentum.

I didn't take Bus 489, but I believe some people have had some communication difficulties with the professor who seems to want very specific things from the assignments. I would probably get this started as soon as you can as well (Maybe right after you finish 325) so that you can work on other classed while you go back and forth waiting for milestones to be approved - that way the waiting won't slow you down.
