TAMUC Competency Based Program List

We had promotional testing at work over the past 4 months, so my focus has been on that and not accelerating, but only doing the minimum two classes. Due to the additional requirements from last semester, I have 9 more classes to go. Which I am determined to do in two semesters. I started 3321 (business comm) and 3322 (ethics) on 1/17. Completed both by the weekend. Unfortunately by ethics professor has 5 classes (so probably around 150 students) To grade quizzes and essays, including 6 one-pagers and a 6-8 page essay. So I am sitting here idly until she gets to my work. There are essays I did on the first day of class that she has not graded, so I am not betting on being able to accelerate by this weekend. This is extremely frustrating that there is no maximum lead time for grading.

3321-Communications: Difficult quizzes, but it's open book so if you read the material, you can figure out what chapter the question is from quickly. 15 page project (mostly one-paragraph answers per page)  that can be done in a long afternoon.

3322- Ethics: Mostly common sense quizzes, found nothing really difficult about the material. 6 modules each with its own quiz and short essay. Then a 6-8 page case study on business ethics.

It seems like all the classes I have taken have not been reviewed for accuracy or misspellings. Nearly every quiz had at least one outrageous error.
Examples would be: Which beverage do most people prefer in the morning? (A)-Coffee  (B)- All of the above.

Excellent! have you taken 3311 yet? If so, how was the class? Would you be willing to give a review like you have the above courses?

I'd love to hear any updates.

3311 was the very first one I took. I would be surprised if your advisor let you go out of order unless there was no room in one of your classes. I had one pretest and one posttest. They might have changed the class to have multiple, shorter pre and post-tests instead of the longer ones I had. The project was a large, but easy strategic leadership template. It was about 15 pages, but mostly a fill-in-the-blank. I think it took me an afternoon. The other was a video assignment about my leadership experiences. It took me maybe 30 minutes to plan what I wanted to say and film it.

I was told today that I need US History 1&2, Texas History, and then the 10 ORGL courses.

My advisor let me know that I can knock out History 1&2 through Sophia and the rest at TAMUC.

Now to see if I can destroy these 2 courses before Monday.

Texas Gov was one of the classes I needed too. That one will take a bit of time. The project is a 1300-1500 essay on Texas politics. You get to choose the topics though, I think I chose Texas schools, taxing entities, and some PACs. There's a TON of information in this class and took a while to complete. Is this your first bachelor's? You may have to take an additional 2 Upper-Level courses if you do not have those (36 UL credits needed to graduate)

Just wondering which was your first bachelor degree and what your reason is for taking this as a second bachelor. I think there is too much redundancy in the two degrees if you went for the UMPI BLS with a management minor. The degrees mentioned in this thread are for the BAAS, with concentration and each concentration is the main difference between this and the UMPI degree.

I can see why people would want a second bachelors from here. 10 classes, cheap tuition, and 4 months of your time for a Texas A&M degree could boost a resume quite nicely.

Correct. It feels like I'm gaming the system to get a degree from a public university for $1500. Might as well do it at this phase of my life.

"10 classes, cheap tuition, and 4 months of your time for a Texas A&M degree could boost a resume quite nicely."

"It feels like I'm gaming the system to get a degree from a public university for $1500."

That's why I initially jumped into this program chasing a second bachelor's.
I completed two classes and stopped due to needing to focus on my grad work. Now that my grad work is complete I don't know that it makes any sense to get a second bachelor now. On any job application system where they force you to fill out dates (I have encountered a couple), it seems like it would really confuse them if I held a second bachelor's earned AFTER a master's. What do y'all think?

It all depends on your preference. I don't know if I NEED the degree but I am doing it. As far as applying for jobs, I think it can easily be explained but if you feel insecure about it, like I do my NA degree, you might want to go for it.
