Hi Guys,
one of the admissions specialists told me, that BrightSpace will go online with the January Term.
Additionally, you can also find informations on UMPI website like
https://wp.umpi.edu/instructional-design/brightspace/
or
https://wp.umpi.edu/instructional-design...space-faq/
Especially interesting, I find the part in the FAQ about proctoring. Does that mean, UMPI is going to have proctored exams and courses from that term on?
Do you guys have any informations about the upcoming changes
Thanks
Phil

We don't know anything. They were planning to move for the Fall semester but pushed it off until the Spring semester.
The second link is for faculty. We don't know what changes are coming with Brightspace. We do know that some courses have been rewritten and are now a paper instead of an exam.

It will be interesting to check the tone in the forum if UMPI moves to a proctor format for exams. I anticipate a little dust-up in here; however, with so few exams and UMPI moving more into assignments vs. exams per Jessica, all worries will be overblown. In addition, if you study, the exams are more than doable, and proctoring won't change the difficulty. If UMPI moves that way, modeling after Study.com proctoring style will make sense. It seems to be a welcomed alternative to the ones when someone is watching you throughout the exam. That has never bothered me, but I have read it causes a lot of anxiety for others.

We do not know anything about specific courses. All that has been said by Jessica is that some classes are being rewritten. No one will know details until the move is complete and up and running. We won't know what has changed until people take the classes and talk to others who completed them on Strut. I wouldn't assume a paper/project would be easier than an exam. When the marketing concentration launched, it was all new courses except for 1 and all of those courses are a great deal of work. Several are 15+ page papers with really nitpicky professors. So it may not be safe to assume that a paper will be easier than an exam.

For some people, at least, it's less the person watching you and more the added additional technical headaches that come with live proctoring. Not everyone has the fast, unlimited, internet speeds needed for live proctoring. The recorded proctoring is more forgiving. You still need to be online, but there are fewer glitches.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Makes sense. For the last 7 years, our whole family has been on Skype/Zoom/WhatsApp/Wechat for work, school, and staying connected during travels– the tech part was never our worry; however, as you shared, I could see having all of those requirement concerns creating unnecessary stress and frustrations.

Hello - by chance has anyone seen if the MAOL program will also migrate to Brighspace?
(I am not in the MAOL currently, but assume it's the same platform as the 4yr classes?)
thank you

UMPI is moving off of the Strut Learning Platform. It's mostly likely safe to say the MAOL is moving as well. Wouldn't make sense to pay for both platforms. You could ask your academic advisor about the move.
