IBM Data Science Professional Certificate Course equivalencies

I got the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate TESU course equivalencies back today. This includes 1) Data Science Foundations 2) Applied Data Science Specialization 3) Data Science Professional Certificate(If you do the DSP Cert, you get the other two along the way), and I send them at the same time so it is hard to tell exactly what is what, but here is my best guess based on the ACE Recommendations and lining up to the courses.

Data Science Professional: CIS-210 - Structured Query Language (SQL) - 3 hrs., COS-205 - Python Programming - 3hrs., DSI-299 - Special Topics in Data Sci/Analytics - 6 hrs.
Applied Data Science Specialization: COS-205 Python Programming - 3hrs., DSI-200 Interpretive Data Analysis
Data Science Foundations: Nothing

Again this is just a guess for how they line up, but those are the courses, CIS-210,COS-205(x2),DSI-200,DSI-299(6hr).  The reason for my guess is the DSP cert is the one with the recommendation for 3hrs of SQL, and it is the only one with two recommendations 3hrs in DS, which since they didn't want to give UL, it appears they just smashed together into one 6hr course.

I don't know how valuable the DSI courses are.  They didn't apply to my CS and if I use the what-if evaluation for the BS Data Science & Analytics they don't apply to that.  Might only be good for free electives honestly.  The Python and SQL do apply as LL AOS in the BACS.  I think it is quite a fair bit of work for 2 courses FWIW.  If taking strictly for credit purposes there are probably much easier paths for those two courses.

TESU is extremely stingy on their UL credits.

Thanks for the feedback, it doesn't seem like it is worth it unless you need those particular courses.

Thanks. I agree that the IBM certificates seem like a lot of work for what you get. It seems a lot easier to do Study.com Python programming and another LL course. However, the certificates can be done for free. I will probably pay Study.com again.

Update: It looks like I was right at least about the DS Foundations not coming through - "While Credly is a TESU approved educational provider the Data Science Foundation course completed needs to be reviewed for equivalency by our TESU educational provider review committee. Should the course be approved for credit, we will add the credit to your record in accordance with TESU transfer credit policies. We will notify you of the outcome when it is completed. " I'll let you all know if it comes in with more credits.

It appears that way.  The only exceptions are R and Python (COS 205,206) equivalencies, which are explicitly in the electives list.  Everything else explicitly in the list is from statistics.com, and since the DSI courses don't do anything, I don't imagine anything else (except possibly RA) would either.

Python was the only credit accepted. I didn't do R yet.

Still debating whether the $5500+ (Statistics.com) + $3200 (TESU) is worth it.

PUG's BS in Analytics ExcelTrack could be cheaper if you transfer in the right courses.

I wanted Data Science myself, but decided it wasn't worth it. Comp Sci with some Data Science courses should be fine, IMO. Others might feel differently.
