UMPI BLS with MIS, Project Management, and Management Minors

This is what I thought: 30 credits at UMPI with at least 24 being UL. So, I figured if there weren't 24 in the minor, they would be placed in the electives area as UL . That's easy enough to understand.
So , I'll update courses and see if I have info to post an update. Then perhaps better info will be gathered. A BLS in Project Management was the goal. My SIL will now have 88 credits I believe. She meets the GEC and is finishing Am.Gov, just finished Spanish at IC. All the rest are RA credits.

I updated in a different thread with a BABA " in process" plan.

ss20ts, thanks for sharing this great info, and congratulations on the Summa Cum Laude graduation.

If you don't mind sharing, is there a particular reason you chose to do the BLS with 3 minors, rather than the BABA-PM? For comparison, I've read that the BABA diploma is titled Bachelor in Business Administration, Project Management and Information Systems.

It seems like the BABA might require less course load and yields a similar diploma title (major difference being BLS v. BABA, which for me could make a difference). Unless somebody already has most of the BLS electives completed, then perhaps the course load might have be about the same for 3 minors. I ask, because I want to consider if this is a valid path that might be worth considering for myself, even though it might require a few more courses.

I already had 2 associate degrees when I applied. I had 196 credits. To maximize my transfer credit the BLS was the best fit for me. I started off with just the MIS minor when I applied. Then I took a project management class and fell in love so I added that minor. I added the third minor in my 3rd and final term because I only needed 1 more class to complete it so I figured why not.

When I transferred I would have needed to complete a lot more classes for the BABA. I came back for a second degree and am now completing my BABA. Because I did so many classes with my first degree I only needed to complete 10 classes for the BABA and 8 of them were the concentration courses.

I graduated in March 2021 with a 4.0 with Summa Cum Laude Latin Honors.

I transferred 192 credits to UMPI. Only 90 were used towards my degree, but all of my courses with grades from every school and ACE source are on there. It’s nice to see it all in one place. I completed 48 credits in 3 sessions.

One thing that was really nice about UMPI was that none of my credits were too old. I ran into that problem at Colorado State University - Global and Excelsior College
Would you say the minor in project management or management was more challenging?

Just to let you know, it all depends on the students prior knowledge and the subject matter presented to the student, their interests, other variables in play... I mean, it's going to be relatively subjective for everyone. Furthermore, if you look at it in many ways, it boils down to this: ss20ts didn't have to do any courses for the Management option. So, it wouldn't be challenging at all for the Management minor because 3 courses overlap with the Project Management, 3 were transferred in.

The project management minor was more challenging. It has longer projects. The project risk class is DIFFICULT. It is long too. Management was easier because much of it is just common sense.

Just to correct you. I took every course in the Management Minor. I took 1 after I added the minor as I had already completed the other 5 courses. The Project Management Minor courses were more challenging than the Management Minor courses as these courses were shorter, had shorter Final Assessments, the content was easier, and that risk class was not in the Management Minor. I've seen many people struggle with that class. Risk is difficult subject for many people. It's not a straightforward topic like change management. There's a lot of if this and that and then's in the theories.

Thanks.  I need to learn project management for my next role.  I will maybe try one of courses and see how it goes.

The intro class is pretty straightforward. If you've ever worked on a project, you'll understand quite a bit of it.

@AnonStudent - You may want to review this thread and this particular post, it has a spreadsheet for the triple minor, MIS, PM & Management. Basically, it's almost the same thing as what ss20ts has done, by transferring credits you "skip" the management and just have to do PM & MIS minors.  Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid365771
