Tired of Going Full Time at EC
#1
Thumbs Down
I'm studying for Technology Management with a concentration in electrical technology. I'm familiar with CLEP as I took 5 when I was in the military. I'm less familiar with Sophia, but did the free courses. And I'm interested in fast/low effort options. I'm really just sick of being a full time student and want to speed up the process. At the rate I'm going I probably have a year of full time school left, and I'm exhausted. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know. I didn't include classes I have to take with Excelsior, but I have 70 credits and my remaining requirements are:

3 - Project Management
3 - Engineering Economics
3 - Intro to Energy Utilization
3 - Accounting
3 - Leadership

3 - Social Science/History

Without knowing what you've already taken, it's impossible to tell you all of your options (like for SocSci/History, Anything, UL Professional, Any UL, etc).

Here's what you can take at Study.com: https://study.com/college/school/excelsior-college.html
Project Management - BUS 311: Project Management (not sure on this one)
Accounting - Accounting 101: Financial Accounting
Leadership - Business 302: Foundations of Leadership
SocSci/History - any psych, soc, history course that's not already taken
UL Options
- BUS 307: Leadership and Organizational Behavior (UL SocSci)
- BUS 318: Management Ethics (UL Ethics/Humanities)
- BUS 313: Organizational Communication (UL Humanities)

There are more, the link will tell you where courses will come in. But we just can't tell you what to take without more info

Other options:

Sophia (you need to check to see if these will work)
Principles of Management (UL through ACE)
Project Management
Accounting
Multiple SocSci/History
Multiple "any"

Coopersmith (you need to ask)
ACC-101: Principles of Financial Accounting I
BUS-101: Fundamentals of Management
BUS-302: Organizational Behavior
Lots of UL, "any" available

Davar
ACCT-301: Intro to Accounting (Financial Accounting)
MAN-101: Principles of Management
MAN-310: Organizational Behavior
additional

I don't think you're going to get Engineering Economics or Energy Utilization anywhere else. For the rest, it's a bit difficult to tell with EC. You should confirm with an advisor. But check out https://study.com/college/school/excelsior-college.html

Project Management should be Business 311 at Study.com
Accounting - Sophia https://excelsior.sophia.org/
Leadership is Business 302 or 304 at Study.com

Social Science/History - Sophia
Any Collegiate Study - Sophia again. Compare https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List with what you've already completed; prioritize ones without Touchstones.
Upper Level Professional - Study.com has a few that might work. Check the first link above and type "professional", look for ones that say "upper"
Upper Level Any - How about a UExcel exam? If you don't mind not getting an A, "World Populations" is apparently relatively easy to pass without studying: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UExcel_Exams
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

It's going to be a bit confusing providing you course recommendations without seeing what's in the academic evaluation, the courses and providers above are great options, I suggest you copy/paste or have a screenshot or pdf document listing your entire course list... I would hate to recommend taking courses you have already taken for your remaining general education/electives and the upper level/lower level credits.

Excelsior college has the BS Professional Studies in Technology Management, I assume this is the program you're looking at as it has the Electrical Technology concentration as an option.  You can transfer the bulk of your credits into this program, having said that, you may also want to take a look at how your credits go into a BSLA too just in case you're closer to finishing, I recall that has a Logistics, Technology Management, and a third concentration as well... https://www.excelsior.edu/program/bachel...anagement/

Now to get you started: 1) Invest in a second monitor for easier multi-tasking and answer search.
2) Subscribe to Sophia.org and apply promo code AvonSpring22 for a FREE month, non proctored.
3) Complete as many Sophia.org courses as you can that don't duplicate, up to 10-15+ courses.

If you need to extend the membership, it's just $79/month for 2 courses at a time, unlimited courses.
Once done with the max of Sophia.org courses, you should update this thread with a new evaluation.
Example set of courses from Sophia.org: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List

I’m not sure who your advisor is at EC, but mine has been pretty good about finding out what is accepted as what. Depending on the degree, EC varies a bit on what is accepted from Sophia. For instance, ethics at Sophia isn’t accepted to fill ethics for their BSNET. I was told “we use to, but not anymore. Not for that degree.”

Recommendation: do a month of Sophia and go after the 3 in project management, 3 in accounting, 3 in history/social science, and 20 any college study. If you are iffy with accounting or project management, ask your advisor if Sophia is accepted. As far as history/social science, I wouldn’t even bother asking, since that grouping is probably your biggest bang for buck time wise in the Sophia line up in my opinion. Macro, micro, US history 1 and 2. There’s 12 units with no touchstones right there. They are bound to accept at least one and the rest go towards your 20. Philosophers has 1 touchstone but the course is quick. Do that first and get your touchstone in so it’s being graded while you work on the others, and there’s another 3. Foundations of Stats is quick. There’s 2. At that point, assuming they accepted accounting, project management, one of the histories, and the rest as what I’m reading to be 20 units of electives, you should only need 2 more of whatever you want and you’re 29 units closer to finishing. Depending on how motivated you want to get, and how much time you have to dedicate to it, you just knocked out 2.5 semesters in a month. Take the engineering Econ and energy utilization in Spring 2 (starting tomorrow) or summer 1. Get your Sophia classes you did in that month submitted, then wrap back and ask these guys about the upper level stuff with your updated evaluation.
